抄録(英) Quantifying on aboveground biomass (AGB) in Dipterocarp forest which is one type of Southeast Asia forest is significant topic especially Kyoto Protocol on regional carbon improvement. The aims of this paper were to i) explore in both direct and indirect existing measurements of AGB estimation ii) examine the characteristics of Dipterocarp forest from forest inventory iii) develop an alternative AGB estimation through multiple regression analysis on ALOS AVNIR-2, PALSAR and AGB forest inventory iv) investigate the characteristics of radar backscatter in Dipterocarp forest. Based on both literature and empirical study, a framework was developed to help understand the methodology. For estimation of AGB, the direct and indirect measurement was used in this study. Destructive and Non-Destructive methods were fulfilled AGB estimation. ALOS AVNIR-2 and PALSAR (L-band) HH and HV-Polarization were applied for this study. Then, statistical analysis was fulfilled to achieve the results. Three conclusions can be drawn from the study. The direct measurement done by manpower was expensive and time-consuming. Moreover, wide and inaccessible forest areas were hardly to collect data although AGB was very precise and accurate. Therefore, the indirect measurement extracted the productivity through remote sensing technology. Then multiple regressions served the satisfactory correlation to the study. Besides, the specific Dipterocarp characteristic can be explained through the potential of satellite images.
