Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Currently, Grade Point Average (GPA) has been introduced in many universities as performance evaluation method of students. We calculate in the following procedure GPA. We evaluate in five levels called letter grade of S/A/B/C/D and grant a number 4/3/2/1/0 called Grade Point (GP) to each evaluation. We multiply the number of units to them. GPA is calculated by dividing the total number of units that sum, and it shows the position of personal scores in a same faculty. There are some problems about GPA. One of the problems has not been considered course difficulty. GP is assigned regardless of course difficulty. So, we have been proposed some GPA method considering course difficulty (defined as GPA*). We calculate GPA* by weighted in points course difficulty in GPA. We proposed a new method, including personal scores that is not defined in GPA*. We do a weighting based on personal scores, we give a lot of points to students who took good test scores in high course difficulty and give a low point to students who took bad test scores in low course difficulty. In addition, in reference [2], SGPA has been proposed. SGPA use the deviation. In this paper, we compare the distribution of the GPA, GPA** and SGPA using dummy data. We consider the ranking change of students. We examine the features of the method of GPA** and SGPA.
