Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper aims to perform a verification study for a hybrid approach and to achieve a high-quality exposure level quantification of whole-body average-specific absorption rate (WBA-SAR) for small animals in a medium-size reverberation chamber (RC). The hybrid approach, which incorporates the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) numerical solutions with electric field measurements in a RC-type exposure system, has been used as an evaluation method to determine the whole-body exposure level in small animals. However, there are few data to quantitatively demonstrate the validity and accuracy of this approach in a RC up to now. In order to clarify the validity of the hybrid approach, we compare the physical quantities in terms of electric field strength and WBA-SAR by using a direct numerical assessment method known as the method of moments (MoM) with a homogenous phantom placed in a RC. The comparison results show that the relative error between the hybrid approach and the MoM approach is approximately below 10%, which demonstrate the validity and usefulness of the hybrid technique. Finally, we perform a dosimetric analysis of the WBA-SAR for anatomical mouse models with the hybrid approach and determine the input power related to our RC-exposure system to achieve a target exposure level in small animals.
