| Abstract(in English) | Under emergency conditions, a threshold control method, which reserves several telephone lines to accommodate emergency telephone calls, is used against the congestion in telephone exchange system. In threshold control, it is desirable to set the appropriate threshold which can accommodate the necessary number of emergency calls and as many general calls as possible. However, in order to accommodate more general calls, we consider that we should appropriately limit the holding time of general calls. In this paper, as a basic study of limiting the holding time of general calls under threshold control, we model the telephone exchange system as a M_1M_2/MD/s/s queueing system and calculate blocking rate of both emergency calls and general calls in different traffic conditions by computer simulation. From the comparison between the results and the blocking rate without limiting general call holding time, we show the efficiency of limiting general call holding time in different traffic conditions. Moreover, we show the relation between the efficiency of limiting general call holding time and the ratio of the arriving call type. Furthermore, we also discuss the relation between the blocking rate of general calls and traffic intensity or number of telephone lines. |
