Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In feeling estimation while eating by use of EEG, removing artifacts induced by principally masticatory muscular activities that contaminate EEG observations is a major hurdle. In our previous report, we found these artifacts to be convoluted, and removed them in two observed signals using FDICA, but in the case of multiple signals, it did not show satisfactory performance because of the permutation problem and enormous computation. In this report, we approach the problem through independent vector analysis (IVA), and removed artifacts in fifteen observed EEG signals, the basic activity of which was in the alpha wave range, while chewing gum and eating chocolate. Separation state was checked by time-frequency distribution and cross-correlation function between artifact components separated from both signals observed on the scalp and face. Further applications are expected, accommodating wide-ranging human subject, both while eating and taking oral locations of elements into account.
