Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Large number of mobile wireless local area networks (WLANs) provided by mobile wireless routers and tethering functions of smartphones are used in public places. In densely deployed WLANs, there are a lot of neighboring WLANs. The throughput performance of WLAN significantly degrades as the number of neighboring WLANs increases due to the increase of frame collision probability caused by the contention of access points (APs). To solve this problem, we have studied random arbitration interframe space number (AIFSN) scheme. Our previous studies only focus on media access control (MAC) layer performance in a single WLAN. Since the principal use of WLAN is transmission control protocol (TCP) application, this paper investigates the transport performance of the random AIFSN scheme in densely deployed WLANs by the simulation.
