Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The amount of wireless LAN traffic for accessing the Internet has been rapidly increasing, because of the spread of mobile devices and their use of wireless LANs. In a typical wireless LAN environment, users share one channel space, which can become problematic when too many users stream data. In this study, we propose a forwarding packet reduction scheme that deduplicates the multiple packets containing the same payload. In our proposed scheme, an access point (AP) monitors packets transmitted to stations (STAs), determining whether these packets contain the same payload. When the AP detects the same payload, the AP logically groups the STAs and multicasts packets to the STAs of the group. In addition, we evaluate our proposed scheme via simulation and show that it uses wireless resources effectively.
