Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Standardization activities of Web Real-Time Communications (WebRTC), which enable us to use real-time communication on a web browser, have been going on IETF, W3C, and 3GPP. WebRTC enables us (i) to communicate on a web browser without any installation of plug-ins nor applications, and (ii) to mash-up services powered with the standardized APIs, e.g. HTML5 APIs, and therefore it is expected that the WebRTC be widely used. This article provides an overview of the WebRTC technology, its standardization trends, and our prospects.
