Application of Multi-objective Metaheuristics to Transmission Network Expansion Planning

Abstract(in English) In this paper a new multi-objective metaheuristic method is proposed for transmission network expansion planning (TNEP). The proposed method makes use of Multi-objective Memetic Algoritlm (MOMA) that combines SPEA2 of Multi-objective meta-heuristics (MOMH) with Tabu Search (TS) to obtain better solution sets. In recent years,, the importance of improving power supply reliability is of main concern in transmission network expansion planning under Smart Grid. In other words, sophisticated probabilistic methods are required to deal with TNEP. It may be expressed as a multi-objective optimization problem that focuses on a set of the Pareto solutions and optimizes probabilistic reliability index EENS as well as the construction cost to obtain a set of the Pareto solutions in Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS). In this paper, a MOMA-based method is developed for TNEP and the effectiveness of the proposed method is successfully demonstrated in the IEEE 24-bus system.
