Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Hetero-core fiber optic sensing techniques utilize repeatable flexibility of the fiber, which are softly bending and touching. Additionally, external interaction from the fiber can be achieved using hetero-core fiber optics without removing a cladding layer. There are several advantages of hetero-core fiber optics such as simple structure, temperature independency and high cost-effectiveness. In this paper, we show the principle of the hetero-core fiber optics and 1) liquid and hydrogen gas detection based on surface Plasmon resonance, 2) biomedical sensing for health management and 3) mechanical vibration detection.
