Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | We have shown that changing vertical disparity of the moving object affected the perception of absolute distance. This fact indicated that the human visual system detects the temporal change of vertical disparity and uses it as information for absolute distance. In this study, we investigated whether changing vertical disparity affects the direction of perceived motion. The stimulus contained the cues of changing horizontal disparity and size to simulate an approaching object to the right or left of the observer and the cues of changing vertical disparity to simulate an inconsistent moving direction. The results showed that changing vertical disparity affected the direction of perceived motion for a few subjects, but did not for other subjects. |
