Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A sliding contact is the process of transferring the electrical current between a stationary and moving object, which for DC motors involves a brush (stationary) and a commutator slip ring (moving). The brush-slip ring systems of generators used, for example, in wind power generators require longer lifespans and improved reliability as well as increased current capacity. To this end, we investigated the contact voltage drop and the amount of wear for brushes with different silver contents at different ambient temperatures and determined the optimal silver content for improved performance.
