Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper makes a brief comparison of differential space-time coding with channel prediction for fast time-varying channels, and discusses possibilities of its applications to wireless communication systems. It is well known that differential space-time coding, e.g., differential space-time block coding (DSTBC) and differential space-time trellis coding (DSTTC), is a good remedy for fast time-varying fading channels. Recently, it has been confirmed that differential space-time coding employing channel prediction improves its tracking capability for fast time-varying fading channels. In addition, application areas of these differential space-time coding are not only single frequency network communication systems but also underwater acoustic communications (UWAC). This paper makes a brief discussion on possibilities in applications of differential space-time coding to these new areas.
