Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical applications utilizing silica-based highly nonlinear fibers have been actively studied. In order to realize desired performance for each application, chromatic dispersion characteristics including higher-order ones shall be precisely controlled. However, measurement of chromatic dispersions in highly nonlinear fibers has not been very easy, because their used lengths are relatively short and the difference of group delays in broad wavelength range is small. In this paper, we will report measuring methods of chromatic dispersions including 3rd and 4th order with four-wave mixing method. In addition, we will introduce some of dispersion-controlled highly nonlinear fibers and their applications.
