Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the study of auditory information processing in the human auditory cortex, it is desirable to observe the responses separately to the right- and left-ear inputs during binaural stimulation of sounds. However, mixed responses in the auditory cortex are difficult to discriminate. Here, we report effective method to discriminate transient responses evoked by monaural or dichotic sounds delivered simultaneously to the right and left ears. In the first measurement, we confirmed the attenuation of transient phasic responses after repeated averaging of the response-epochs, while original waveform of the response was reserved. In the measurements of evoked magnetic fields, we obtained separated responses to a speech sound /a/ and a pure tone delivered to the right and left ears. Results showed the difference between dichotic and monaural stimulation in the magnetic auditory evoked response N1m in a way that depended on the characteristics of the sounds.
