Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have newly designed fiber-optic light devices with Mie scattering parts to collect and emit lights through their side-surfaces, and evaluate their light concentration and emitting efficiencies by the ray trace simulation. Because of confining scattering parts to small regions with the lens effect in a cylindrical fiber, the concentration efficiency and the effective length was significantly improved compared with slab waveguide models. Optical fiber with 1 or three scattering parts showed distinct directional property to collect surrounding lights, and similar property was also observed when it acted as a fiber-optic light source. Finally, we explore the possibility of a fiber-probe application with two functions of light emission and concentration.
