Abstract(in English) | We have proposed several types of intensity-based fiber-optic mechanical-vibration sensors using fiber grating devices as sensing elements such as fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) and long period fiber gratings (LPGs), and have investigated their highly sensitive operations. In this paper, we have constructed a highly sensitive LPG vibration sensor using cascaded LPG which consists of a pair of identical LPGs with a separation of distance (D) in a length of single-mode fiber. In the experiment, the higher sensitive operation is achieved by applying the cascaded LPG which is fabricated with larger D as well as using higher order cladding mode. |
