Abstract(in English) We have extended the concept of Software Defined Networking (SDN)/OpenFlow that has been widely introduced in packet networks into optical networks, and developed an SDN controller for the unified control of optical and packet networks. We have extended OpenFlow protocol as a southbound interface to support flexible optical node, and also a REST API as a northbound interface to control the optical nodes. By using this REST-API with existing one for packet switches, network resources for packet and optical networks can be utilized seamlessly. In this paper, we describe the motivation for the unified control of optical and packet networks, and the needs for flexible optical node. By using the SDN controller we have developed, we confirmed the operation of a flexible optical node, and showed that optical and packet resources could be provided in a flexible and simple manner depending on the condition of the traffic.
