Study for Route Optimization in a Large IP Network by Centralized Control

Abstract(in English) With respect to the control plane of IP network, it is expected that the centralized control system using by SDN/OpenFlow realizes a flexible routing and reduces the cost of equipment, operation and maintenance. Conventionally, there are various studies of the load balancing by the route optimization of "path", which is defined by both the start point and end point like MPLS path before. However, in the IP network each node (router/switch) forwards packets based on the destination IP Prefix, so it is difficult to apply conventional route optimizations to IP forwarding. In this paper, we propose a route optimization algorithm that can be applied to the IP network, and we show the effect of load balancing by using the proposed method. Furthermore, we show the effectiveness of using OpenFlow "Group" about calculation time of optimization time in the IP network that is connected to a lot of IP Prefixes.
