Abstract(in English) Public Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is widely used in urban area. Stores such as a coffee shop, self-governing bodies, and mobile-phone enterprises provide the Internet connectivity by the public WLAN for smartphones and multifunction mobile terminals. WLAN uses limited wireless resources, such as channels and transmitting power, hence the communication quality frequently varies by physical influence of communication area. For example, WLANs separately managed by different organization and wireless equipment other than WLAN may affect quality of wireless links of WLAN. We have already studied the wireless channel utilization and the population of WLAN standards in urban area in Kitakyushu. This research examines the wireless channel utilization and communication quality of WLAN at the urban areas in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka. Furthermore, we investigate the main factor for deterioration of communication quality of WLAN through experiments of wireless link quality around WiFi AP.
