Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This document introduces standardization activities in 3GPP especially for next-generation speech codec named Enhanced Voice Service (EVS). EVS is a codec for VoLTE speech service that has EPS and IMS as core network and controlling network, respectively. EVS is required to provide significantly improved quality for both speech and mixed content/music compared to existing 3GPP voice codec such as AMR and AMR-WB. In the meeting held at November 2013, it has been declared that all companies interested in submitting EVS candidates would submit a single jointly-developed EVS candidate. This collaboration work would enable to finalize the standardization of the EVS codec in the Rel-12 time-frame and launch the EVS VoLTE service earlier. Currently, test method for the jointly-developed candidate codec is under discussion.
