Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents our investigation on a deformable hand model. Finite element method (FEM) and penalty method was employed to compute physical deformation and frictional contact. The size of the FE mesh was approximately 2.5 mm, which is comparable to the two-point discrimination threshold at the fingertip. The effect of geometric non-linearity was mitigated by corotation method taking advantage of the link structure of fingers. Moreover, parallel computing platform was introduced to accelerate the computation; both Intel MIC device and NVIDIA GPU was evaluated. Through experiments, it was proved that the update rate of 150 Hz can be attained.
