Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the present study, we estimated spatial and temporal characteristics of contrast sensitivity distribution measured for a single Gabor target presented within or outside of a circle figure consisted of Gabor patches. Experiment 1, 2 investigated the contrast sensitivity distribution as a function of temporal frequency of presented figure, and found that the sensitivity decreased as temporal frequency was higher. The measured contrast sensitivity depended on the edges-specific processing (Local Processing) and the figure-specific processing (Global Processing). In Experiment 3, 4, we investigate spatial aspects characterized as size of the circle figure, gap between Gabor patches composing the figure, and the distance from the edges. While the global processing was observed on the small figure, the local processing was observed on the large figure. Thus, we found that spatial and temporal characteristics of contrast sensitivity could be different when the targets were appeared at around medial axis of figure or contour of figure.
