Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We change mouthfeel using cross-modality of visual information of food and mastication sound. We feel as if we were eating the replaced food. A subject watches a picture of the different food through Head Mounted Display. The subject hears mastication sound of the different food through a bone conduction speaker when the subject chews. The timing of chewing is detected by a photoreflector to present mastication sound appropriately. Subjects evaluate our system by Semantic Differential Scale. The experiment shows that there is no cross-modality when subjects watch visual information of food and mastication sound separately. The mouthfeel is greatly changed when subjects watch both information at the same time.
