Abstract(in English) Facing rapid increase in data traffic of mobile communication network, the hierarchical network configuration based on the phantom cell concept, in which small cells with high bit rate communications overlay macro cell with securing coverage and mobility has been proposed. At here, UHF bands have been used for macro cell and higher frequency bands (SHF bands, EHF bands) have been used for small cells. Considering that the environment of introducing small cells are dense-users-environments with mainly line of sight (LOS) communications and very high data traffic, the shadowing characteristics by human body are important parameters of propagation characteristics. In this paper, we propose the model of shadowing characteristics by human body included shadowing width and median value of shadowing loss. From predicted results using theory of knife edge diffraction and calculated results using uniform geometrical theory of diffraction (UTD), we also show that the shadowing width and median value of shadowing loss can be expressed by simple formulas included frequency, transmission distance between transmission point and the human body, receive distance between receive point and the human body, the human body width, antenna height, and direction of the human body.
