Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In WDM networks, a node requests an optical path, selects a wavelength along with a candidate route, and establishes an end-to-end optical path if any wavelength is available. Routing scheme adopting OSPF is widely used. It selects the least cost route. The cost is given by the number of hops from an originating node to a destination node. When no wavelength is available along with the selected route, the request is blocked. When the traffics concentrate on specific nodes, path requests will be blocked at these nodes. In this paper, it is clarified that the traffics are concentrated on nodes with high betweenness centrality by using OSPF. Furthermore, it is clarified that the betweenness centrality are not enough as a cost in routing. We propose a new load balancing method for WDM networks based on the link cost control by using "modified betweenness centralities". We also propose a wavelength converter placement scheme which will drastically reduce the blocking ratio.
