Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a sleep control method with which an energy harvesting wireless device can enter a sleep mode aggressively based on its residual energy. This method introduces the sleep control based on the residual energy into a DeepSleep method that can improve IEEE802.11PSM (Power Saving Mode) for saving the energy of an energy harvesting wireless device. Especially, in this method, three parameters are determined based on the residual energy: 1) a probability with which a device enters a sleep mode, 2) a time during that a device is a sleep mode, and 3) the minimum contention window size after the sleep mode. With the parameter setting, a device whose residual energy is small can enter a sleep mode frequently and is a sleep node for a long time. Moreover, a device whose residual energy is small can transmit data preferentially, and hence such a device can be used for a long time. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method with simulation and investigate the impact of the proposed method on an energy harvesting wireless device. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
