Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Rapid rollout of WLAN (Wireless LAN) is resulting in dense deployment of many APs (Access Point) in WLAN in these days and throughput of densely deployed WLANs is significantly degraded due to co-channel interference among APs and STAs (Stations). In order to solve this problem, it is proposed to employ adaptive directional antenna at AP to increase the received power from the desired STA and to reduce the interference from other Aps and STAs. This approach has an advantage that performance of existing STA can be improved by using adaptive directional antenna. When adaptive directional antenna is used in indoor WLAN, e.g. indoor buildings, improvement of throughput and SNR depends on the usage environments. This report evaluates improvement of throughput and SNR of indoor WLAN in the building when two APs using the same channel are closely located by using ray-tracing method to take reflected waves into accounts.
