Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this study we will consider the online car operation problem in multi-car elevator (MCE) systems. In MCE systems more than one car is installed in every shaft (hoistway), and it is necessary to operate cars so that neither collisions nor reversal never occurs. We will formulate this problem as a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) problem under a given allocation of cars to passengers. Then, we will conduct computer simulations by employing a general solver in order to examine the characteristics of MCE systems and their advantages over the ordinary single-car elevator systems.
