Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A wireless harness is a new emerging short-range point-to-multipoint communication, enabling to the replacement of wire harness used in machines with wireless harness. For the realization of such a system in automobile engine compartments, we have carried out path-loss measurements inside them. This paper evaluates the path loss properties for propagation distance and frequency based on the measured results at 2-20 GHz, with our proposed path-loss modeling technique. As a result, it is elucidated by a statistical analysis that the median path loss and the multipath fading in the engine compartment follow a lognormal distribution and Nakagami-Rice one with Rice factor of 1.6 dB, respectively. In addition, we find that the path-loss exponent for the propagation distance is 1.2-2, and also that the path-loss exponent for the frequency is 0.5-1.4, showing that the in-engine propagation has lower attenuations for the frequency than a free-space propagation.
