Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been studying a heterogeneous cognitive radio system which combines public wireless mobile systems (PWCS) with commercial mobile wireless communication systems (CMWCS). The cognitive radio systems can improve bit error rate (BER) performance of the PWCS by receiving subsidiary information (SI), a part of CMWCS' information, transmitted from the CMWCS when DPPMRS's communication quality has got worse. To improve the BER performance of the PMCS, the received signals of the CMWCS are combined with the SI from the CMWCS; these combined signals are referred to as added received code-words (ARC), and then the ARC are decoded by using Forward Error Correction (FEC). In this regard, the BER improvement method requires that the cognitive radio have obtained self-synchronization of the PMCS and co-synchronization between the received signals of the PMCS and the SI from the CMWCS. For this reason, we propose a novel synchronization method using the SI for the PWCS based on the differentially-encoded π/4 shift QPSK. This SI is efficient because it can be used not only for the synchronization but also for the BER improvement.
