Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Since the human visual perception is sensitive to changes in the hue of a color image, the preservation of the hue is important when color image enhancements are applied. Naik et al. showed the conditions to preserve the hue of the color image in the RGB color space and proposed the image enhancement method using its conditions. However this method has the problem that the saturation of the color image is decreased. Therefore several modified methods to address this problem have been proposed. In this study, we propose a saturation adjustment method while preserving the hue in the RGB color space. The proposed method tries to obtain a desired saturation by incorporating the gamma correction into the saturation maximization method proposed by Inoue et al. Experimental results show that the proposed method can adjust the saturation appropriately by changing the gamma value.
