Abstract(in English) It is important to understand the structural features in ankle, such as varus or valgus deformity in subtalar joint. However, the radiographic evaluation of ankle joint has not been highly reliable since it is generally required experienced knowledge and skills. Therefore, the development of objective methodology to evaluate the morphology of ankle joint has been expected these days. We have recently created a new methodology as follows: 1) easy-to-use in daily clinical situations, 2) to use laser light which detects the surface of our bodies using angle measurement software, 3) to evaluate the degree of varus or valgus at subtalar joint deformity in patients with knee osteoarthritis when weight-bearing, 4) to comparable with the radiographic data. We report the relativity of this methodology in this study.
