Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The purpose of this study is to develop an input interface for severely disabled people with limited limbs movement. The developed system recognizes the user's thumb movements via a web camera, and converts the movements into input operations to a personal computer. The system can adapt to different users whose levels of disability are varied, and to diverse environments. A movement recognition algorithm, which detects markers by a combination of features, such as colors and shapes, was proposed. Recognition algorithms were compared in order to improve marker detection accuracy and processing speed. As a result, it was shown that the proposed algorithm can detect markers with a high level of accuracy by introducing a parameter of circularity.
