Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) On current long fat networks, enough performance is not obtained with TCP Reno, which is the classical TCP congestion control algorithm. For this issue, several modem TCP congestion control algorithms, such as CUBIC TCP, have been proposed. These modem TCPs have raised another issue, which is performance fairness among these TCPs, and some works on this issue have been published. However, these works have been based on not practical TCP implementation but simulation. In this paper, we measure TCP fairness of the existing modem TCPs and evaluate Dynamic Packet Dropping based on Packet Monitoring, which is the existing fairness improving method. After the evaluation, we propose a method for improving the existing method based on transition of queue length and show that our proposal can improve fairness of the existing method.
