Image Enhancement with Bilateral Minimum and Bilateral Maximum Filters

Abstract(in English) We present a method for enhancing images by using the bilateral minimum filter and the bilateral maximum filter. A dark envelope image is derived with the bilateral minimum filter and a bright envelope image is derived with the bilateral maximum filter. Two images are reconstructed from these envelope images. High contrast image is obtained by fusing these two images. This method can be used for general contrast enhancement including dehazing and enhancing under-exposed photographs.
