Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study examined the effects of smoking on smoker's interpersonal relationship. Adult smorkers (N=500; 378male, 122female) completed questionnaire. The results showed that, while smoker's image was not so positive, a smoker identified with a smokers category, and had positive expectation for interpersonal relationship formation. Path analysis revealed that (1) similarity and group identification correlated with each other, (2) similarity led to smoker's positive image and smokers category identification facilitated smoker's positive image and expectation for interpersonal relationship formation, and (3) smoker's positive image influenced to expectation for interpersonal relationship formation but the reverse influence did not show.
