Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study investigated the relationships between maternal socialization goals and maternal speech styles in using IDS and ADS words. Thirty Japanese mothers spoke to their 20-months-old children while viewing pictures of 21 familiar objects on a monitor. The mothers also responded to questionairs regarding socialization goals for their children at age five. Results showed that interdependence-orientation and high-motivation-oriented goals concerning socialization were positively related to multiply using both of IDS and ADS words and negatively related to using only IDS words.
