Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Multicore fiber (MCF) is paid much attention as a breakthrough for expanding transmission capacity of optical network. For practical application of MCF, the establishment of its connectivity technology is essential. We have developed fiber bundle type fan-out (FBF) as a fan-out for MCF. In this study, we applied automatic measurement based on image recognition to core to core pitch measurement of FBF and evaluated the precisions of measurement and core pitch. Maximum standard deviation of measured value in 20 times measurements for identical core pitch was 0.147μm. We confirmed superior repeatability of automatic measurement. Since average values of core pitches in 20 times measurements distributed within ±0.25μm, core pitch precision of FBF was confirmed to be quite high.
