Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Semiconductor optical amplifier has been getting attention as an attractive device for signal processing, optical switch, and optical amplifier to extend the reach in access network, because of high integrability with small footprint and wide gain bandwidth. When optical pulses are launched into SOA, the waveform distortion is however caused by the slow recovery of carrier density and is called pattern effect. In this paper, we propose to apply feed-forward controlling gain clamped current method to mitigate the pattern effect in SOA and discuss its operations based on numerical simulations. We evaluate the improvement of Q-factor for on-off keyed input signal. |
