Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The most remarkable feature of spoken language is such information that cannot be transcribed into text. That is so-called paralinguistic or nonlinguistic information. There have been, and will be, a number of research problems which deal with paralinguistic and nonlinguistic information. However, organizing various concepts that are related to paralinguistic and nonlinguistic information is difficult. In this tutorial, fundamental concepts are introduced first. It also aims to reorganize the schematic view of speech communication. Then, typical research goals and a few specific studies are reviewed. Finally, several common issues in research design are discussed.
