Dimensionality Reduction of Characteristic Feature for Paper Finger Print

Abstract(in English) While digital printing technology improves, the number of elaborately counterfeited bill increases. Paper is comprised of pulp fiber combined complicatedly and each paper has its own pattern of pulp fibers. Though the conventional method which uses image pattern of pulp fiber (paper finger print) as characteristic feature to identify paper, is simple and easy method, it needs large size of the feature in order to identify papers accurately. We have conducted paper identification experiments and evaluated several image compression algorithms used in image coding technology. As a result, we found that we can reduce the size of the original image into quarter using image quantization and double coding algorithm.
