Abstract(in English) Development of algorithms for vision-based vehicle safety system, which support safety driving, takes long period of time and huge costs because it requires the evaluation stage where huge combinations of possible driving situations should be tested in real environments. In this paper, we address this problem by using free viewpoint images as the input to image processing algorithms on vehicle safety system. More concretely, we generate free-viewpoint images from a combination of 3D point cloud measured by laser scanner and omni-directional image sequence acquired in real environments. In experiment, we have tested our method with the white line detection algorithm and experimental results have shown the possibility of the use of free-viewpoint images for evaluation of the algorithm.
