Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An encoded image using DCT has the problem that visual quality is deteriorated when the data compression ratio is higher. Independent component analysis (ICA) is the one of effective data analysis measure, and a set of basis which is obtained by ICA is correspond to the structural feature in an input image. This paper presents the image coding method based on ICA for still monochrome image. In the proposed method, each block is divided into three regions with difference structural complexity using ICA coefficients, when ICA is applied to input image. And, it is seen in the experimental results that the individual data reduction measure should be adapted in each region in order to improve the coding performance.
