Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The purpose of this research is the automatic detection of road signs in a still image. In recent years, various studies have been conducted on the automatic detection of road signs because it plays an important role in automatic driving system and in driving assistance of motor vehicles. In this research, we propose a detection method based on a visual attention model that focuses on the saliency and color features of the road signs. The proposed algorithm also aims at low computational cost that enables the detection of video images. Furthermore, we evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm by using a database of road sign images taken under different conditions.
