A Study of Fused Type Fan-in/Fan-out Devices for Two-Mode Multi-Core Fibers

Abstract(in English) Few-mode multi-core fibers (FM-MCF) which are combinations of multi-core fibers (MCF) and few-mode fibers (FMF) have been investigated in recent years to further increase the transmission capacity. In order to realize the transmission system using FM-MCF, fan-in/fan-out (Fi/Fo) devices which connect the FM-MCF to the FMF are required. In this work, we propose fused type Fi/Fo devices for two-mode MCF (TM-MCF) and investigate the structural parameters to maintain an effective area (A_) in the input and output of the proposed Fi/Fo devices.
