Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An optical lens array that can change the focal length and lens pitch is investigated. The lens array has a simple structure that consists of a glass plate, four ultrasound transducers and transparent viscoelastic silicone gel. The lens array can be formed by the acoustic radiation force radiated from the lattice flexural vibration of the glass plate. The configuration of the glass plate and the ultrasound transducers were determined through finite element analysis. On the prototype, the lens array could be formed and the lens pitch could be controlled discretely at the resonance frequency of the glass plate. The variation of the lens height in the array was measured, and the relationship between the variation and the vibrational distribution of the glass plate was investigated. The distribution of the transmitted light was calculated by ray tracing for a lens excited with several input voltages. The focal length could be controlled by varying the transducer input voltage so that the lens functions as a variable-focus lens.
