Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We present a method for dehazing images by using the bilateral minimum filter and the bilateral maximum filter. A dark envelope image is derived with the bilateral minimum filter and a bright envelope image is derived with the bilateral maximum filter. The ambient light and transparency of the scene are estimated from these two channel images. An image without haze is reconstructed from the estimated ambient light and transparency. Comparing the local contrast of dehazed images, we show that the proposed method outperforms previous dehazing methods.
