Abstract(in English) Recently, the frequency resource shortage problem has been aggravated in cellular system due to the growth of service or application business based on high-speed communication. To solve this problem, data traffic offloading to "white-spaces," which are assigned to existing communication systems but temporally or spatially unused, are promoted as one of solutions. In particular, white-spaces in TV broadcasting (TV white-spaces, TVWS) has attracted attentions for such traffic offloading and rules for secondary use of TVWS have been regulated in USA, UK, Japan, etc. For further investigation, it is necessary to promote research and development of traffic offloading technology for existing cellular system, however, it is also necessary to prototype base station and terminal based on the cellular system for TVWS utilization. In this study, prototyped TDD/FDD dual mode LTE base station and terminal by applying the UHF converter are reported and RF characteristics are summarized.
