Abstract(in English) In LTE-Advanced downlink, multi-user (MU)-MIMO transmission is considered to be a promising technology to improve cell-average and cell-edge frequency efficiency. For MU-MIMO transmission, it is essential to adopt accurate precoding vector in order to efficiently reduce inter-user interference in the spatial domain. This paper proposes enhanced downlink codebook structure for 4-by-2 MU-MIMO transmission using dual-polarized antenna (DPA) considering the number of precoding matrix indicator (PMI) feedback bits. In the proposed codebook, inter-polarization amplitude information is fed back in addition to the inter- and intra-polarization phase information. Based on system-level simulation results, it is shown that the proposed codebook achieves maximum of 14% gain in terms of cell-average throughput compared to Rel. 8 codebook.
